COVID-19 – UPDATE 1 28 January 2021
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to MacKillop College for 2021. We look forward to welcoming our students back to the College, in the hope that 2021 will be a healthy year for the entire community. Please be aware, that students are expected to wear the full summer uniform on their return, tomorrow Friday 29 January 2021.
COVID Safe
The College has a COVID safe plan in place that ensures the health and wellbeing of each member of the College community. Based on the plan and the latest advice from Catholic Education Commission Victoria (CECV) there are a number of expectations we have of students, staff and families. As you are aware these requirements will continue to change in line with community standards and the advice of the Chief Health Officer.
If your son/daughter is unwell, for whatever reason, you are asked to keep them at home. As per government advice, if they are showing even mild symptoms, they should be COVID tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff, all members of the community are asked physically to distance by not shaking hands, hugging etc. as well as adhere to COVID safe practices by not sharing food or stationery etc.
Masks in schools
All students will be required to bring a mask to school. Where a social distancing of 1.5 metres cannot occur, all community members will be required to wear a mask.
This means that within the classroom all students will be required to wear a face mask.
Hand sanitising facilities exist across the entire College, including in classrooms and the entrances to buildings. Student are asked to use this when entering classrooms. Posters of the protocols regarding these expectations have been placed around the College.
The College canteen and lunch orders
In line with the CECV guidelines, the canteen is not able to open in its normal capacity, however, is able to offer a full ‘lunch order’ service. Details and a price list are available on the College website.
Visitors to the College
Visitors to the College will continue to be restricted, and we ask that you come into the College only if it is absolutely necessary. We will continue to enact physical distancing protocols at College reception. Parent/Guardian meetings can occur on site with physical distancing requirements in place.
QR code and contact tracing
To support contract tracing, visitors to our Administration Office and our Uniform shop will be asked to register their attendance via a QR code, which links to the Victorian Government tracking service.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year for our students. Please do not hesitate to contact the College should you have any queries.
Kind regards,
Rory Kennedy
