Medical Information
College staff work collaboratively with families to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students. Families have access to Operoo to provide personal and medical information about their children and upload relevant medical management or action plans and Medication Authority forms where applicable. Families are responsible for ensuring documents signed by an AHPRA registered health practitioner are provided to the College prior to the student commencing at the College or as soon as possible after diagnosis of a new condition. On receipt of the initial management/action plan we will be in touch to review specific needs.
Below is a summary of common conditions which require input from families. Further examples can be found int Appendix 1 of the Medical Management Policy. It is important to include all medications to be administered in the school environment, which includes normal school hours as well as activities that occur outside of normal school hours, for example camps or excursions.
If your child is required to take over the counter medications regularly, we recommend you discuss this with your child’s health practitioner to ensure long term effects and contra-indications are considered and arrange for them to sign the Medication Authority Form (remove yellow highlight when link to document on website is added). Please note we cannot accept Medication Authority Forms for general use, for example Panadol for headaches, unless this has been approved by a medical practitioner.
If a specific condition is not listed, or if you need help please call the College and ask to speak with a First Aid Officer or email firstaid@mackillop.vic.edu.au .
*Where a student is completing a course of prescribed or over the counter medication and the family has not been able to obtain authorisation from the treating health practitioner, approval will be sought from the Principal.
